  • My interpretation:

    spoiler

you’re traveling through a long and dark tunnel while having one of those poor video game style oil lamps that don’t illuminate anything and also you are out of stamina thus your vision is blurry, and also a murderer is slowly chasing you while reveling in your screams (they are the ones saying the text).

I may have played a little too many horror games as a kid 😅

  • modded Skyrim

Probably a good thing you haven’t switched then. In my experience setting up mod manager and any external tools (like Nemesis) was not easy, but it’s doable. Mods themselves may not work though, especially if they are more external to Skyrim. So, for example, you can forget about ENB shaders. I mean, when I tried them they worked, but basically no other mods and in an empty area with 7fps is not exactly playable (on Windows it was unstable ~30fps with mods).

  • I did a reverse search and the quality of most of the pics are shit, even though they have more than 1000 x 1000. The biggest one I found was 1650 x 2048, and it was clearly AI. Oldest I found was from 2024, which didn’t link to the image directly, so I don’t think that is correct date, especially since every other image was from 2026 (most from June).

Yeah I don’t think this is legit.

I’m currently testing just outright blocking all scripts through uBO, and to be honest it is not usable. I will use it for a little longer, then for sure disable it. A lot of websites just refuse to load (thanks, SPAs), and those that do often have little interactions that break, thus making the pages hard to use or even outright unusable.

To give some examples for those that haven’t tried this: images may refuse to load (js based lazy load implementation), dropdown menus almost never work, search option usually doesn’t work (and if it does it’s only because it goes to a different page, which is fair), comments probably won’t show up, pretty much anything “live” won’t work. Oh and let’s not forget the captchas and all the proof-of-work blockers.

For me the only really interesting part about this experience is that imgur refuses to load, even if you have a direct link to an image.

  • By that logic everything is addictive and people indulging in it should be considered addicts. And I mean everything, for example: playing sports, singing, painting minis, fantasizing about muscular men, and even cleaning your house.

But that would be kind of meaningless, and would add nothing to the discussion. Luckily the discussion is not about that, it is around games with elements specifically designed to be much more addictive.

Good example would be Bloons TD 6. Is the game itself addictive? I wouldn’t say so, it’s just and ordinary (though well made) game. Again, you can still get addicted to just the play loop of it, but that’s not the point. Are the daily rewards and daily challenges in this game addictive? Yes, their purpose is literally to get you to think you have something do in that game and log in every day to do them. Think about how much less addictive that game would be if those mechanics would be removed. Would people still log in every day to play? Some people yes (third time now, everything can be an addiction), but a lot of people would play much less, and possibly in much more focused sessions (as in not half an hour everyday, but two hours every weekend).
