I’m not Admiral Patrick of the former dubvee.org I just play along to waste the time of those who believe they are successfully harassing him.

22·2 days agoPortainer has worked well for me but it has so much that I don’t need or use. It looks like Dockhand has a Home Assistant integration which is nice, so I’ll check that out thanks for the rec.
Attempting to discredit trusted orgs like NPR is a long beloved conservative tactic
Same and same! I don’t think it’s fully sunk in for a lot of Linux die-hards the game changer that is immutability/flatpaks.

2·5 days agoYes but I recommend waiting until someone makes a version of Linux specifically for Bigscreen because it’s not really ready yet
It’s in the post. They wanted immutability:
“Unraid has always been a so-called immutable OS— however you modify your server, if you go in there, you type the wrong command, you delete all the files from your root, you still could just reboot and you’re back to the virgin release… and that’s a big reason why we’ve chosen Fedora [uCore].”

3·6 days agoNot running on a Pi yet, any spying would depend on the distro. There’s no dedicated Bigscreen distro yet but I’m pretty sure it’s being worked on.

46·6 days agoThere’s no best answer right now, Plasma Bigscreen is making good progress.
I have to imagine they’ll soon be putting cellular antennas in the TVs to circumvent all that anyway.

2·6 days agoI could never get those Android TV builds to work with CEC which kind of defeats the purpose for me. I’ll try it out with the next update. Librelec had no issues.

6·6 days agoI couldn’t find a working YouTube app on Kodi, nor any of the streaming sites (besides Disney plus oddly) nor Plex. It kinda felt like a real debrid frontend and graveyard of plugins.

1·11 days agoI’m no fan of slop but I’m not going to stab myself in the eyes to avoid looking at it. That’s what the slop wants me to do.

7·13 days agoYou are giving slop WAY too much power over your life, imo. Avoiding Linux entirely because you might accidentally touch some generated code is pathology.

3·13 days agoPlease stop hyping up the power of text generators. LLMs aren’t predators with will of their own, they only have as much power as we are willing to cede to them.
The more afraid we are of slop doing something other than just being slop, the more power we are giving the companies (which are harmful) to actually control us. Don’t help them.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•Batteries have unlocked the era of anytime solar | EmberEnglish
6·14 days agoI have a friend that was using a gas generator to to periodically charge a battery in his tool shed. One time I asked him if he thought of putting up a solar panel on the roof. He said it wasn’t sunny enough to run all his tools off of solar. When I suggested he use the panel to charge his battery it was like I blew his mind. People still don’t think of solar like that for some reason.

The extent of the community depends on the context. I think most Americans when they hear the word would think of the people in their neighborhood or town. But it can mean any group of people, like a university, the LGBT community within a city, an internet fandom message board, etc. When a politician or elected official is saying “community” without prefacing specifically what community, they are probably referring to someone’s local town or neighborhoods.

How did WTC7 burn and collapse when the only thing that hit it that day was a massive skyscraper? 🤔
