Feels like when Texas legislators decided to pull the plug on a bunch of their public schools’ Spanish Immersion programs, because they hated the idea of a bilingual population. Or the Canadian conservatives took feeble swipes at the unstoppable French-speaking Quebecois.

I guess it feels really based and cool in the moment. Still incredibly shortsighted when 1 in 10 of your domestic neighbors speak Russian. Putin’s not going to be alive for much longer, but the Russian language has a bit more runway.
