Come to think of it, the Trump circus has taken a lot of attention away from China, hasn’t it?

Also, Xi making Trump cave on tariff negotiations definitely helped his image.

Away from China’s what? China being basically an information blackhole and their foreign policy not being very flashy means there’s usually little to pay attention to in the first place.

China’s foreign policy is basically “play whatever side makes the most sense for China”.

Their pattern of behavior shows an end goal of economically dominating the planet. Fully replacing the United States and Europe.

China is also obviously looking at ways to create a military that can compete against the U.S./NATO dominance. They need some teeth to back up their economic pushes.

It is obvious that China is using the Trump shenanigans to make themselves look good. China is now on the higher moral ground, as unbelievable as it sounds.

The list of countries that were surveyed is basically just the list of countries that the average American could possibly name. In other words, most of them are historically aligned with the west.

I would be very interested in a complete survey. I suspect China would fare even better.

Not only would China fare even better, I suspect that it’d be much harder to say that America’s reputation is falling apart, because it’d be clear that most (or at least a good chunk) of the world hates America no matter who is in charge. I find it weird that articles like these try to paint a global narrative using data only from countries that were favored by past admins, and which would therefore be most likely to negatively react to Trump’s isolationist agenda.

It certainly casts light on the pro-capitalist Western bias that permeates “impartial” organizations like Pew or AP Press.
