In a win for the White House, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals has cleared the way for President Trump to fire two Democratic members of independent agencies. In a 2-1 decision, the court found that restrictions on the president’s power to remove officers of the executive branch are unconstitutional.

I have OP tagged as having frequently shared Russian propaganda in comments sections.

This is purposefully divisive content. It’s not incorrect but OP has an agenda. Tag them and keep track yourselves.

They seem to be trying to drive a ‘doomer’ sentiment.

i.e. “were fucked give up it’s over”

They post on both sides of the aisle but a sentiment analysis of their posts reveals intent.

His news sources are often the most leftist coated articles from the most tankie sources. I feel we should judge based on the articles shared rather than the sites he frequent, but it is worth keeping in mind the staff of their news orgs are extremely anti-nato and can’t quite seem to condemn Putins aggression as fervantly as they condemn Europe arming itself in a defensive stance… but you’d only see that if you explored the sites’ other takes than what’s being shared here. Whether the goal is to soften people on these sources, idk, but it’s not for a mod to say a factual article should be removed because other articles hosted there are more dubious. Just my 2c

Yeah. The vibes I get are a sort of attempt to slowly shift the overton window kind of thing. Thanks for your work here. Seems to confirm my suspicion there.

Lemmy is really kind of shaping up in a way that… I might reach out to a local higher education institution and try and get some real research done. I feel like it’s more plain as day here than it is on Reddit? It’s like super easy to see.

There are definitely more of them on Reddit, but I think new accounts there stand out more as an attempt to obfuscate prior intent since reddit has been around forever and lemmy still gets a lot of highly involved new users or people switching instances without intent to deceive. I’d be curious if an actual analysis shows a trend of soft introductions to soft on Russia sources using articles that don’t mention Russia or Ukraine at all. Still, even if shown to be the primary technique, it’s a hard sell to moderate based on articles that weren’t linked, and certainly larger media corporations have a few crappy false articles a month as well, not even to mention opinion pieces.

Yeah the hard thing is it appears really intently crafted on ‘fitting in’ while still dragging in a sense of doom. I certainly can’t imagine how one would moderate.

I just tag people when I see it. I call it out when tagged accounts repeat offense. And after that I start ringing bells for others to take note, tag the user themselves, and maybe we can come to a consensus together.

Looks like they got banned, so it looks like it works. It’s slow, but it works. :)

What strange comments. Admits being pro Russian but says Putler “made a mistake” sending in troops, and when confronted says he advocates for “class warfare.”

Admits being pro Russian but says Putler “made a mistake” sending in troops,

The situation in Ukraine was a delicate matter, Putin fucked up and I admit that.

The (half-strength) BTGs that were sent in did not expect any resistance, they went in without their material technical support brigades which meant they had to rely on ad hoc supply units and looting. The material technical support brigades were only sent into Ukraine around a month after the invasion but Russian units had already sustained heavy losses by then due to the lack of ammunition and supplies. So the Russian Armed Forces withdrew from Ukraine being replaced by mostly irregular volunteer formations (whom were thrown into the meat grinder to allow regular army to get out of dodge) but not before murdering innocent people in Bucha and Izium.

In the end, instead of saving the local population whom were being oppressed by the Kiev regime, the Russian intervention into Ukraine only resulted in the deaths of more people (many of which was caused by the direct actions of the Russian Armed Forces) than what was previously thought to be.

Right! Isn’t it good for us to all have our tastes?

People should be able to abort.

                  Gays should marry freely.

Gender is a matter of social construct.

Climate change is caused by man

Vaccines work and dont cause adverse side effects with any known lasting consequences

                  Critical thinking isn’t communism.

                  Etc. 🥂

I will assume any response to this is such that you agree in general.

Any attempt to subvert it into further conversation will certainly be ignored. But I’ll see you in the next thread!

It seems like the MAGAite Hitlerite Fascists consolidated their control over the executive and judicial branches.

A massive defeat for the American people, this must be reversed.
