    I know that this “DYK” is a bit tired by now but it still blows my mind occasionally: For Cleopatra those pieces would have been further in the past, than she is to us. By ~800 years. 800 years from now is 1200s. Those come from an old past of an ancient past before the ancient past

    There was a person, patiently sanding off features of a dog. What was their reality like? What were they worrying about? What were they hoping for? All seemingly lost like game pieces in the sand. Yet, somehow here those are. Washed ashore despite the storms of history

      If anything, this should tell you tell you that those people were exactly the same as us now. Just without the doomscrolling, so maybe more like the same as 30 years ago I guess.

        Absolutely! But then, what are the odds someone will look at something, someone from the present is doing, 5000 years from now and thinking same questions? Name unknown, probably not used since a long time ago, language forgotten. Yet, there they were, doing a thing that’s relatable. Through all the wars, cataclysms, bite of time
