I just invoked my GDPR right to delete/close my account: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a1379064/ and got this result:
Your LinkedIn account is now closed. Although you no longer have access to it, it’ll take a few weeks for your public profile to disappear from search engines. Your data will be deleted as described in section 4.3 of our Privacy Policy
So at least this still works.
…it’ll take a few weeks …
So this means I should poison all my data before deleting it? Is there a script for that?
Ffs, the 22 points manifesto from billionaire Peter Thiel openly calls for including big tech into the US’s defensive/imperial apparatus. This means we need expect big tech and all the possible digital media/propaganda tools to turn on us at any time. Remember, Trump’s new NDS wants the EU in a submissive and subjugated position, so if we let them (or big tech) turn us into powerless vassals, they will take that chance immediately. It only takes a moment of weakness on our side. And they are already testing the waters.
So how about we set an example by swiftly denying market access to non-complicit companies who pull off BS like this? Maybe it doesnt need more than a single, powerful signal as a deterrance. Honest question, what could go wrong? I fail to see any immediate negative consequence.
Jeep doing and getting more people to do together in the EU and internationally with other people! Together anything is possible!
I usually don’t remember about having an account there, but every time someone reminds me (like right now) I wonder whether I should delete it. The problem (?) is that I’m an IT professional and LinkedIn was supposed to be a job search venue (I never used it in 20 or so years, I only got spammed by recruiters whom I either declined or ignored them (you know, the reverse Tinder meme)). But I still have “connections” there and a few recommendations, and there’s that thought lingering in my head, that MAYBE SOMEDAY I may need one of those connections as a foothold or a bonus point when applying for a job. I don’t know. There are several other IT job boards which all seem like a better solution than LinkedIn.
lol
