British government: “We really like your design, we think we’re going to go with your submission. We’ll just send somebody by to make sure your facilities are up to snuff to match the high quality of the design and required production numbers. I mean, obviously you aren’t just three guys in a shed fiddling with gun design, ha, but we have to go through the process! See you Tuesday!”
Guy in a shed, hanging up the phone: “Bro what the fuck are we gonna do”
(sips tea) It’s ok lad, I’ll hire the workshop and half a dozen staff, you secure a couple of lathes, a milling machine, and break out the sign paint.
Pardon my ignorance, but what am I looking at?
The L96A1 sniper rifle from Accuracy International. Here’s a short summary of their story: https://www.bellbrosguns.co.uk/how-three-men-in-a-shed-revolutionised-rifles/

I’ve shot a couple of these with Nightforce optics on top. Both suppressed and not.
They are incredible. More so to me because I was shooting with PRS guys who can use them out to a mile. And the glass allowed you to watch the vapor trail all the way to the target. It’s just nuts to me that it’s basically a couple of aluminum rods strapped to a receiver with some plastic clamshell to give it something comfy to hold. And that just one cost more than my first three cars.
