There is a perplexingly large percentage of Japanese masters of art who make brilliant thought-provoking art as an excuse to draw their favourite vehicles. Mangakas doing faces in 4 lines and manually raytracing the reflections of the meticulously accurate headlights.
Akira Toriyama drew some badass vehicles especially in the OG Dragon Ball series. Some of the filler pages between chapters or volume covers were so damn cool.
Akira Toriyama was able to draw maybe 2 unique humanoid faces, but that man could draw machines like no one else. Early Dragonball covers are mostly just the characters driving whatever car Toriyama was obsessing about that week.
Where are the screenshots from, Pug?
Porco Rosso, if memory serves!
Damn! Gotta go see that and Ponyo!
Porco Rosso is my favourite ghibli film. A lot of it is just miyazaki drawing gorgeous airplanes in gorgeous sky-scapes. Plus there’s a pig!
A flying pig, if I’m not wrong!
An anti-facist flying pig!

The motorbikes in akira were incredible, i still only use motorbikes in cyberpunk 2077 because of that.
