The thing they want is an external distraction so people will quit paying attention to domestic issues. Bonus points if Iran actually manages to become enough of a problem to “justify” emergency powers for the president. They don’t actually give two fucks what the final outcome for Iran is.
Ultimately bullies just want to bully. They don’t want anything from their target except to reflect back to them an image of their desired power.
The only thing they want is for Iran to be a distraction from the Trump-Epstein files and from the midterms in the fall.
