Discord have belatedly confirmed that they're working with Persona, an identity detection firm backed by a fund directed by Palantir chairman Peter Thiel.

    I get that you can replace Discord with Matrix.

    But why are people using discord over signal+jitsi in the first place?

    Is it just for parasocial relationships?

      Convenience, lack of perceived cost or complexity at the beginning of a new mainstream platform. Then just because their friends are there.
