UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United Nations said Monday it’s waiting to find out how much of the nearly $4 billion the United States owes the world organization the Trump administration intends to pay and when the money will arrive.

The U.S. Mission to the United Nations confirmed that U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz said the Trump administration planned to make a significant down payment on its arrears in a matter of weeks, with the final amount still to be determined. His comments were first reported by Reuters.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned last week that the world body faces “imminent financial collapse” unless its financial rules are overhauled or all 193 member nations pay their dues, a message clearly directed at the United States.

It’s quite something when I really can’t decide if Joffrey would be a preferable king compared to Trump

Deposit it as legal tender in a bank and the UN is good to go again. The 4 billion should help pay to move UN headquarters out of a fascist shithole country. I recommend either Montreal, Dublin or Lisbon.

If trump creates a new fiat currency token and says the US backs it, couldnt the UN can put that token in the bank and their balance would read 4 billion, right?

Thats such a classic Trump FAFO move, I wouldnt be surprised if he tried it. They cant even do corruption correctly.

Congress could pass a bill to send payment directly, bypassing the president, if they republicans really wanted to. Assuming the Dems would support it, I suppose. You never know with them.

Actually, I suppose Israel wouldnt support it because they hate the UN, so the Dems wouldnt support it. When you come down to it, Israel controls this situation. The US funds 30% of the UN’s budget and the US congress works for Israel.
