Several of the country’s largest LGBTQ Pride celebrations have lost major sponsors, to the tune of $200,000 to $350,000 per event.

Several of the nation’s largest LGBTQ Pride celebrations are down hundreds of thousands of dollars in corporate sponsorships this year, with some event organizers saying promised funds have been withdrawn or reduced and others saying they’ve been ghosted by longtime corporate partners.

Pride organizers say some companies fear being targeted by the Trump administration over participation in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, while others are preserving cash in a tumultuous economy.

I’m fine with this. The LBGT community doesn’t need “fair weather friends”. This lets us know which companies to actually spend our money with.

As a queer person myself, I always understood that our liberation will never come in the form of rainbow capitalism. I am not surprised at all by any of this, and to be fair, I am glad these fake allies are showing their true colours.

    ❌Gay Pride

    ✅Gay Shame

“Gay Shame was created as a protest of (and named in opposition to) the over-commercialization of the gay pride events. Members attack “queer assimilation” into what they perceive as oppressive societal structures.”
