        My grandad used to count sheep like that. "Yan, tan, tethere, methera… etc until he got to 20, then put a stone in his pocket and start counting again

        I never understood this because how many sheep would run past when I’m looking for a stone on the ground to pick up to mark 20?

    I use the annteen, frosty-five, annty-four system.

    I’ll be looking at a hex dump and going, what’s this ernsty-bet doing here?

    Edit: I have been informed this is known as the Magnuson method.
