    “Wiped Out!”

    “9 Shocking Reasons!”

No thank you. How about an article with actual information instead of clickbait bullshit.

Sorry to gatekeep, but this video has nothing to do with fuckcars. Importing a gazillion cheap Chinese small cars would just make the situation worse.

It’s mainly about how sensible options among new models disappeared. Young people are priced out of new models; cities started to accommodate SUVs with more and bigger parking spots. Enshittifying cities via lobbying while chasing higher margins.

I worked in automotive and now I’m in the market for a small economical car. I don’t even want it but I need it.

The only sensibe option is used, if I don’t want a four wheeled Titanic. This is awful and it contributes to the current division and radicalization of car v no-car views.

Oh come on, small cars are quite available in the EU. The issue is cars in general are too expensive, which is how it should be.

Now which is your stance, quite affordable or too expensive?

I’d prefer to not end up on the extreme opposite of car-dependence, where you don’t have a choice; either have a public line or cycling is the best you got.

Public transport should be the first but not the only choice.

Public transit should be the first option and biking the second. Cars should not be an option except for rural areas, where they should be exclusively electric

Yes I noticed that. Parkings used to be mostly parallel, so those beasts were a nightmare to park and a 3 meter vehicle was desiderable and the norm. New parkings instead are angular, so the length of the vehicle doesn’t matter. Problem is that in this way it takes the space of the cycling lane

Huh, in which city are you seeing this? The two examples given in the video are completely wrong. Paris tripled the parking cost for SUV’s and has removed tons of curb parking. Similar thing going on in Belgium.

Also most of the manufacturers that have discontinued cars listed in that video still have other similar or smaller sized cars e.g honda still have the jazz, Citroën still have the ami

They show an image of the Fiat 500e, but it’s not discontinued, production was just paused due to lower-than-expected sales.

I’m sure there’s lots of models in other segments that have been discontinued too, they’re just trying to cherry pick ones to build a narrative.
