  • No she’s just trying to sell the idea that being trans is a tactical choice just like how she put JK instead of Joanne on her book cover so more boys would buy it.

Standard terf belief is that trans men just sometimes wanted to do boy stuff as a kid but didn’t because of sexism and are too cowardly and weak to stand up for themselves so they treacherously try to join the enemy. As part of trying to convince herself and other people that’s how it works she has to do her own Evangelical “I smoked crack every day before I found Jesus” thing.

  • Trademarks aren’t supposed to be a gift to the company, they’re a service to the public to help them know what they’re buying so they don’t get tricked into buying a counterfeit. If nobody expects velcro to come from one specific manufacturer anymore, that trademark isn’t serving the public and there’s no reason for it to be protected.

The Band-Aid company really really wants people to go to the store to buy some band-aids, but then only one box says “Band-Aid” on it so they buy that one because they don’t know what “adhesive bandages” are. They love that, it’s just illegal. So they have to make sure to run enough “BAND-AID™ BRAND ADHESIVE BANDAGES” ads to have a defense in court that no reasonable person is buying Band-Aid because they think that’s the only band-aid in the store. But they still want as many unreasonable people doing that as possible.

  • Yes but not because of generated videos. Cop just shoots you and the nearest bystander says “grok what happened” and their camera glasses say “What an intelligent question!!! It looks like someone was just nonviolently apprehended for a serious crime!!! You’re so pretty!!!” Then they ask grok if they can cross the street now and get hit by a truck.

  • What happened here is Del Monte was sold in a leveraged buyout to the son of Ferdinand Marcos’s money launderer. When the dictatorship collapsed the guy who was in charge of the shell companies and Swiss bank accounts and keeping track of the shrink wrapped pallets of $100s buried in the jungle just kept it all, and became a private equity fund. (typical private equity origin story)

He bought Del Monte with debt and then transferred all the debt to Del Monte once he owned it, then his creditors who are in on it resold the debt to retail investors and pension funds as AAA recession-proof revenue from a 100 year old canned food company, and now he has Del Monte declare bankruptcy to fuck them.
