Technology@lemmy.world•What would stop you from switching to a flip phone (or dumbphone) in 2025?English
1·4 months agoI know exactly what I need my phone for: music, maps, banking, messaging, books and sometimes traveling. Anything else I have is a distraction that I’m addicted to have.
You know what keeps me from binning it? The FOMO, and not being able to hold conversations with friends and coworkers because I’m would not be tuned to the latest trends and happenings, and that sucks.

Technology@lemmy.world•Netflix uses AI effects for first time to cut costsEnglish
24·6 months agoI’m divided because on one side AI is taking away many jobs that now outputs low quality shit. On the other hand, AI may allow small creators to see their vision become real with tight budgets, specially in countries without a strong movie industry.

Technology@lemmy.world•Swiss officials not following EU use of burner phones for US travelEnglish
7·9 months agoGiven the current state on the US arriving with a burner phone, or even a clean one, would at least get you interrogated, and at worst deported to Guantanamo. Better leave something innocuous on the phone that makes it look used.

Technology@lemmy.world•Which Browser Should I Use In 2025? - HackadayEnglish
10·9 months agoTo me the killer feature is the ability to send my tabs to any device I have. Without it it’s impossible for me to ditch Firefox, I rely too much on this feature.

Firefox and Tab stash. If I have a lot of tabs I just click the extension button, it archives all as bookmarks and closes everything. It also open its own tab listing everything you saved. Once in a while I revisit the names and decide what to do: save in Joplin if it is an article interesting enough to be saved, save the video if I like it enough, or just delete it.
Just a side note: by default Tab Stash hides the tabs instead of closing it so you can recover it faster. Change it to “close immediately” to free some memory instead.
