  • Huge advice for a junior right here. Juniors lie - a lot. They’re afraid that not knowing something is bad.

OP, don’t lie. Admit when you don’t know something. You counter this by being inquisitive. If they ask if you know something but don’t ask them what it is. Is it like this other thing? How do they use it? That’s how you win the interview. No one knows everything, but they want someone who can learn.

Also, completely separate, don’t make jokes. That’s just personal advice, but I made jokes when I was younger. They don’t land, it’s not the place.

  • Agree, and as an adult who enjoys comic book movies. I also like really good cinema. Liking good movies does not mean movies that aren’t winning Oscars are all bad. It means you’re just a gatekeeper.

I can sit down and watch a movie like the Brutalist or the Whale absolutely lose my shit at them.

But sometimes I don’t feel like being emotionally destroyed and just want good guys punching bad guys with predictable plot.

Humans are complex and sometimes you may like one and other times the other, there is no “you can’t like X movie”. Only gatekeepers think that way.
