Because it does matter how it happened. Most legal systems, as well as most people’s moral judgements on the issue, are going look at the totality of the circumstances.
Someone going 3x the speed limit is creating a more dangerous situation and should face a higher penalty than someone who was, say, following all the rules but sneezed and accidentally hit a cyclist.
It doesn’t feel reasonable to say someone who gets wasted and swerves into a cyclist has the same degree of responsibility as someone who fails to see the victim. Both bad, but drunky made worse choices and introduced more danger. Similarly, speeders have less time to react, lower levels of control, and have exponentially increased the impact forces in a crash.
Obviously, intentionally hitting someone and killing them is the worst but personal choices that increase risk raise culpability.
Fuckin’ crazy. Feels like engaging critical thinking there might have helped.
It was a pretty small number of doctors who actually faced consequences for it. Personally, I put more blame on the companies pushing the drugs and releasing false information.
And, yes, there are many doctors who are currently afraid of getting in trouble and that sucks. It’s the classic thing where the well-meaning, rule-following types get overly terrified while shitty actors can keep doing whatever. Then that sucks for everyone who actually needs help.

MechaHitler for Senate!
…just as a doctor would be held responsible if they fed into a patient’s painkiller addiction.
Yeah! Like all those doctors who got in trouble for the opioid crisis!

Remember, the US government secretly poisoned alcohol during Prohibition and just said, “guess you shouldn’t have drank it” when people got sick and died. Enforcement is its own end and purpose; improvement and protection of the lives of citizens is secondary at best.

Ours all died to tainted salad.

All the world’s a forum, And all the bots and users merely shitposters; They have their memes and their wojacks; And one poster in their time submits many posts.

The WWII surplus basically doesn’t exist outside museums. The vast majority would have been used (especially in training) or updated. Even just chemical instability and environmental degradation would have made anything too dangerous to really leave in an arsenal.
The one who attacked the humans in the future (when the picture of Sarah gets burned) was a totally different look than Arnold, right?
Get out of here with your nuance.
Millennial with a hairband for a wallet here.
Yep. Teacher here. They (almost) all have wallets.

It’s… it’s not just trucks of RAM and GPUs?

The general sentiment (don’t downvote just because you disagree) is correct, but the context of it is a bit different.
The comment heavily implies (“… simple truth…”) that their statement is reasonable and correct. But in reality, their statement is whackadoo nonsense and downvoting that kind of thing is completely reasonable.

Even with “one-pedal driving,” there’s still a physical brake pedal for backup/emergencies.

And then, per the 13th, legal slavery!
One nice thing about opening in is that snow can’t pile up and trap you inside.
