I would not be surprised if my old coworker-friends started a separate group chat without me after the nth, “Maybe you should come to one of these protests” and “Please at least read the wikipedia summary on this historical topic before you start going off about it” message from me.
They’re fine people but they’re also kind of very… apolitical.

I just bookmark stuff if I think I’ll need it later, and I usually don’t even do that. Otherwise, every browser window is closed at the end of the session.
Part of why I moved to the city was wanting to escape the car based nightmare of the suburbs. Couldn’t do much of anything without a car or an extremely risky walk.
I could have walked a mile to the train station with no sidewalks , and then paid $20 for a ticket into the city on a train that stops at like 10pm, but all of that sucks. I stayed inside and played a lot of video games.
All the people who were mad about Clinton’s email that aren’t furious about this are hypocrits that should never be taken seriously again.
But people in this community seem to believe that cars simply shouldn’t exist.
I don’t think most people genuinely believe cars should exist for no one. I think some posts here are hyperbolic, like when you say “I’m going to kill my brother for stealing my Pokemon cards”, you don’t really mean it. It’s an emotional outlet.
Most people I’ve seen recognize that lowering car usage makes it easier for when you do need to drive (for accessibility or moving or whatever, not so much for fun)
I don’t go for making fun of people’s imagined dicks or sexual performance. Seems immature and bundled with problematic paradigms.
People can have fun with cars, true. People can have fun with anything. The problem is cars are everywhere and not limited to fun places. like if people had a “cover yourself in honey” fetish and just went everywhere covered in honey, demanded honey dispensers everywhere, got everything sticky, and started wars over honeybees. I don’t care how much fun they’re having , they’re making everything worse for everyone else.
You seem to be unfamiliar with hyperbole, or maybe just didn’t recognize it here.
Also they kind of enshittified Google photos by walking back the unlimited storage promise. Probably not the best project to point to for “Google doesn’t suck” arguments.

What was their last big success? Google maps? Pretty much everything they do lately is some combination of shitty or prematurely killed.
In 2025? Why on earth? No Republican policy is good. Their policies don’t align with their marketing.
