I’m of both minds here: I see where the person you’re responding to is coming from because most of the day to day stuff is stuff we should take less seriously (e.g. working in the corporate world, social constructs of gender roles etc). But you’re right there are very serious things in the world that are happening often because other people take shit too seriously and fuck it up for everyone else (e.g. “I must be the most powerful person in the world” leading to destroying everything for everyone). We’re forced to take that shit seriously because it’s doing real harm.

You gotta find the balance where you’re not burning yourself out by taking it all too seriously.

If you think that mentally challenged people dont understand when someone is mocking them, or that its okay to mock someone just because they dont understand it, then you are the problem.

It’s not that people are offended for the mentally challenged, it’s the fact that people started using it to refer to people who were not mentally challenged but were just acting a specific way. In this way equating being mentally challenged with being stupid (or whatever else was implied by it).

It’s kind of fucking rude to equate having a certain disability with being stupid.

People used to use the word a lot in this sense. At some point, that became unacceptable so people stopped using the word in this sense. And now, because less people use it in an offensive sense, people think it’s okay to start doing it again without (as the case is proven by OP) realizing what it does in the long term.

If it’s a job that affords you the ability to still be able to enjoy the things you want to do, then it’s definitely not a wasted life. The worthiness of life isn’t defined by the way we earn money.

That being said, if you’re looking for other jobs that are maybe less taxing so that you can have more time to enjoy your life, and if you can afford it, you could go do something easier for sure. (I certainly wouldn’t classify fighting as an ‘easy’ job). The security guys at my work get to do whatever basically for 10 of the 12 hrs they work, one guy is writing a book, the other guy learned different languages. You could try something like that? And then if you have energy after you can go to open mics or something to get your musical talent out in the world without feeling stressed about needing to make money off it.
