Kind of sad that there seems to be minimal effort to make Python mainline fast. There are so many projects to accelerate Python. Some even work really well. Some as much as 100X faster, and most at least 10X faster.

Good. That is the way.

I guess other thing Ubuntu One provides is kernal hot patching which I do not care about.

I think Debian has a similar option though provided by a third party.

Yes I hate the snap for everything stuff.
Regarding security updates, are the missing ones critical? I have been ignoring ubuntu one.

One reason I use Debian is that the repo is so large most things are there. If they are not or what is there is too old I use primarily flatpak and appimage.
Curious what you do not like about Ubuntu? I admit I am not crazy about it these days but one reason we uٌse it for some systems is the supported software. We are at 24.04 and only uprgade every 4 years but it seems to work fine.
Strangly said but really they are just saying focus on the problem not the person.
Not sure why you need to convince anyone. Sure you like to run a team by concensus but that is not always possible. Some times you just have to make the call or run it up the chain to have some VP make the call and get people in line.

There is always a good argument for symplicity and AI is not simple and has uncertain security.
Similar thing with IDEs and editors when coding. I have always prefered an editor except when the IDE does exactly what I want which is often not the case.

I know HR policy where I worked was specifically that you had to be working at the next job grade level before being promoted. The downside of that, mangement sometimes abuses this. So you have to be proactive too.
It is also often better to apologize then asking for permission when striving to do the correct thing.

Basically agree. AI helps but it still needs an expert to get the job done. There are so many times AI just does strange stuff and you have to know enough to know when it is just wrong. I think we all constantly encounter that.

I would guess it is simple, we have big oil lobbies and China is a big oil importer.

If you are talking internet connections, that is the realm of big providers. Cell, Fiber, Cable, Satalite, and WiMax like services. There have been some local Wifi mesh systems but these ultimately need to link to telecoms.
If your talking apps and services that run on an internet connection, there are many solutions.

We love our Volt, sadly not made anymore. The thing in short supply is OEM battery replacements. Both price and timeline means you would buy third party. Our Volt is 11 years old now battery fine.

I have a friend that is a professional programmer. They think AI will generate lots of work fixing the shit code it creates. I guess we will see.
Make is fine unless you want to build on Windows. Then you kind of need something else. It is the very slow process creation infrastructure that kills Make as a tool on Windows.
