I don’t identify as a cyclist cause I mostly cycle to get somewhere or touring around on holiday, not to go fast in my lycra suit. that said, I’m on a bicycle several times per week, and in the case where there isn’t enough space for me and a car I generally make way for them when I can.

for one thing it doesn’t cost me anything and I am genuinely the only thing stopping them from being on their way. It’s also just annoying for both parties involved, it’s not nice having a car in your back all the time.

so I get her frustration. it is weird for them not to just make way when the road widens a bit

I wouldn’t try unpasteurised cheese from a big US brand, knowing what the hygiene standards and oversight for cattle are like. That said, I’ve regularly eaten unpasteurised cheese from Spain, France and the Netherlands and I don’t think those need to be banned (in the EU or their respective countries). I don’t think they’re comparable to unpasteurised cheese from the US though, especially since the budget cuts to the FDA.

the point is saying unpasteurised cheese is always horribly unsafe is to me wrong. it can be done relatively safely, but in the US currently it will not be done safely.

they’re unlikely to lose significant weight simply because they use a bicycle. just like most people who start exercising without putting effort in their diet, any weight loss from exercise would likely be gained again by compensating by eating more. It’s a separate issue in any case, regardless of what life of transportation they use, many westerners should eat less and especially eat less meat
