I was watching the fullnerd podcast and they mentioned that Linux seems to be a trending topic that is being picked up by the YouTube algorithm. I use Invidious so it’s not something I would notice but I wonder if that’s part of the reason we’re seeing more newbie Linux content these days.

World News@lemmy.world•Trump imposes 50% tariff on India as punishment for buying Russian oilEnglish
2·3 months agoHow much of all this tariff stuff is performative? With all the exclusions, that top line number will apply to very few actual goods. I don’t think anyone is naive enough to believe Trump has anything against Russian interests.

Linux@programming.dev•Intel CPU Temperature Monitoring Driver For Linux Now Unmaintained After Layoffs
1·3 months agoIt’s possible the situation has changed to a degree where AMD overtook Intel in the intervening years, but I think we would’ve seen some headlines if that was the case. I couldn’t find any reliable sources either way.
As someone who has no allegiance to either company, I really want Intel to turn things around and be a strong competitor again so that we can all benefit from their resources in the open source space.

Linux@programming.dev•Intel CPU Temperature Monitoring Driver For Linux Now Unmaintained After Layoffs
20·3 months agoI run all AMD but this is a sad trend for everyone. Intel has been very good to linux over the years and AMD has a lot of catching up to do to have the same kind of influence in linux.

News@lemmy.world•Why Canada Isn't Sweating Trump's Mob Tactics
3·4 months agoIs there any reporting on the actual tariffs being collected? Preferably with a detailed breakdown of countries, materials and exceptions.
One person asked for this. It has been an obsession of Adams’ (PCWorld) since he started sniffing the exhaust of steam decks. There was one vendor at CES selling scented thermal paste. I find the whole thing hilarious.
