Makes sense, I feel the same unfortunately. What are you doing now to keep your sanity?

How do you get out?

Agree to disagree I guess. Besides Andor, the Mandalorian is probably best sub-franchise they have released in recent years and the movie being a long episode isn’t really a bad thing.
And I disagree he became weaker. The little help he gets from Grogu doesn’t take away from his awesomeness.

Not a huge fan of Star Wars movies, but I liked the movie. One of the better ones IMHO.
But: I had no idea it was out. I missed every single piece of marketing or announcement. If it weren’t for a friend who spontaneously invited me, this post would be the first time I heard of the movie.
So just saying: might be the marketing was shit? Cause the movie ain’t. Or nobody has money for movies, sure, not denying the economy is in shambles.

Also works the other way around.
If the bomb goes off AI companys’ enterprise customers will die like flies. That’s not good for business. If they scaled up too fast, AI companies can’t get a return on their investments and die with their clients.
Depends though, because companies like Google and Meta are still ad platform companies first when looking at profits.

‘Breath’ is also not the right word. It’s definitely the latest scream, hopefully the last. But the last breath?

I’ve got a friend from Germany with a Tesla and keeps complaining about it. Shoddy work, many pieces that are not aligned properly, vibrate a certain speeds etc. “Wouldn’t happen in a German car.” Yet the acceleration and some of the more advanced features still make it fun to drive. Tesla outperforms by looking new and advanced while cutting corners with the basics.

The guys who refused to endorse him.

China would ask “why not?” and “who’s gonna stop us?”

Still shit for the SW engineer job market.

My device “fails verification” wtf

Less tolerant, I also notice it with myself.

Things have changed especially because we all are becoming less social. Getting to know someone in person is still much more effective. Talking to strangers without pretense is however less accepted.

I was looking for a tech positive outlook and found solarpunk for myself. Since then I’ve learned a lot that doesn’t have to do with tech, but also on the topic of how technology can empower people. It helps I was already an environmentalist before.
I started looking a lot more into contributing to open source projects. I started looking into decentralized networks like lora radios. I self host a lot more. Got rid of Google on my phone…
Biggest issue is the job. With my attitude change my well paid corporate tech job has become soul sucking.

Switzerland isn’t. Palantir even sued the Swiss newspaper that reported on it.

I mean… yes of course. Being socially inept I read up on it and try to use it, not for some nefarious reasons, but to actually build a connection. But if any conscious alterations of speech is “manipulation” then, yeah. It’s why I don’t like it in a sales call.

It feels more personal to use names. I use them to remove distance between and the other person. I wouldn’t like that for a sales call either, but otherwise I think it’s important for building relationships.
It is better than other deep models in some ways, but that’s also not really a surprise given the huge sums of resources thrown at it. Take any technology and make it the center of a supercharged economic bubble and you’ll see something amazing but unsustainable coming out of it.
