Washington has repeatedly said that any annexation of the West Bank would cross a red line.
“I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank,” Donald Trump told reporters at the White House in September. “It’s not going to happen.”
“I think the president’s made clear that’s not something we can be supportive of right now,” Rubio said of annexation as he boarded his plane for a visit to Israel.
Considering what a joke Trump’s ceasefire has been, I expect something even flimsier like this to be even more of a joke.

At some point, they’re going to have to acknowledge that Israel so badly wants both Gaza and the West Bank. They’ve always wanted it. They don’t give a shit about the Palestinians living there, and they never have. This is their version of manifest destiny. At some point, there will have to be a public acknowledgement that this administration knows this. They’re trying to walk an impossible line of not saying this out loud and yet still moving in this direction as if Palestinians won’t notice. As if this isn’t the reason Hamas exists!
I can hear Netanyahu laugthing about Rubios’ words. It has always be the plan to get rid of the Palestinian people. The Hamas attack just provided a welcomed excuse to depopulate Gaza. They won’t stop just because of American politicians’ complaints.
