Junta troops detained, tortured, and burned six civilians to death in Sagaing Region’s Kantbalu Township on 12 September, according to a report released by the Kyun Hla Activists’ group. One 15-year-old boy survived the massacre and later recounted the incident. The victims, all residents of Nghat Pyaw Taing old village, were returning from a gold-mining area known locally as Shwe Hmaw in the Singu area. They were traveling on motorcycles along the Shwebo-Myitkyina road when they were intercepted by junta forces at Bu Gone junction at around 3 pm on 9 September.
