I think their heart is in the right place, but going into the “wrong” bathroom can land some transpeople in physical danger.

I think it’s in poor taste to trivialize it like this. We’re not there yet

If u label bathrooms by their gender, even if the establishment owners are supportive, if your state/nation has bathroom bans, the trans people can be probably be charged if a cis person calls the cops, maybe unless you explicitly specify the bathrooms are trans inclusive.

It was a small food spot with two single person bathrooms.

They probably just removed the gendered signs and put up “funny” neutral ones.

Not the first time I’ve seen this done, but the first time I’ve seen an alien sign. Got a chuckle out of me and I snapped a pic to share.

It’s cute in theory. Don’t feel bad about sharing it. I’ve seen other ones where there’s a Spartan and a cowboy next to the alien.

Any trans person can correct me, but it just feels kind of “all lives matter.” In Seattle, I’ve seen a lot of signs with very authoritative and explicit language explaining that the bathroom is for everyone. Not as whimsical, but more clear.

i’m not wild about the implicit comparison to a literal alien, but it’s also… fine. it feels a bit othering in the kind of way like, the owner wishes political dialogue wasn’t constantly about trans people (… which i agree with!) i think they’re probably not transphobic, but i would also hazard a guess they don’t really Get It, either

I’m trans and I’d feel safer going in this one than a gendered bathroom. Just reads like a whimsical way to say gender neutral to me.

Might be a difference in perspective.

I’m in a blue state and this particular neighborhood is mostly genderless when appropriate.

After two dozen simple “bathroom” signs this was nice.
