Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you take a job that pays $15/hr but provides housing at no cost?English
18·3 days agoNo.
Housing tied to employment is too close to slavery for me.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are there no normal electric cars instead of gimmicks on wheels?English
6·5 days agoBecause the overlords want data. So data collection must be in everything because top dollar is being paid for it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Broadly speaking, what is your current take on AI?English
8·5 days agoAI itself is not bad.
But the unregulated industry, breaking laws all the time, people in charge are literal super villains, mass surveillance, producing even more idiots that I have to depend and interact with, …
Take it away, it is not doing anything we want it to actually do. I only want robots/computers for one thing, and that is to do chores around the house. It doesn’t do that, so I am out.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's keeping you from ditching the civilized world and living in the woods?English
19·5 days agoIt is impossible to gather food for yourself. We don’t live in pre-civilization or even the wild west. Everything is owned by someone, regulated, etc.
How do you expect to feed yourself? Not like you can just gather all day and get lucky hunting.
It is objectively harder to ‘live on the land’ then it was centuries ago. Borderline impossible, especially if you want to… you know live and interact with people.
I have a wife and cat to look out for, hard to do that when I can’t pay rent.

3·8 days agoCompletely avoid the fact that politicians also don’t know how AI, or any tech, works.
Ignore the idiots that help you, but yell at the ‘idiots’ that make your feelings hurt.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•103°F in Los Angeles all weekEnglish
21·8 days agoTrue, but it is hard to ignore that the a certain class seems to be centralized/condensed to one generation specifically. And that generation also consistently and energetically supports them to the day they die.
At least for us that are clever, can use tactics like this while we can.

where is the labor/money coming from to sell those coffee? I don’t know about you guys buy I rarely see people vote for a raise in taxes for any reason, especially in education.

teachers do not want parents to be there longer than necessary, parents are the number one reason why teachers leave their career behind. More parent to teacher contact, rather than just restricting to just emails, is a terrible idea

Technology@lemmy.world•EV Charging Doesn't Need to Be as Fast as Gas, Ionna CEO SaysEnglish
16·8 days agoDefinitely.
Its ignoring that people’s use of their personal vehicle is actually for work purposes, commuting; and guess what? People don’t like to commute and try to get it down as quickly as possible.
His situation does work for people on road trips, but ignores the daily lives and routine of everybody that works for money.
Another instance of CEOs having immense privilege and literally cannot fathom or understand how normal people operate. I mean, just go stand outside a 7/11 for 30 minutes and start counting how many people go inside vs getting their gas and go.

2·8 days agoBeen using RecipeSage recently, highly recommend.
You don’t have to self host if you want to try it out. You can also just create an account for free on their site with no strings attached.
I fucking love cheese

I can’t do a wheelie in my commuter machine.
Yeah, this is an example of “having it both ways”.
Pick a lane, stop dragging me along.
We could have both, but unfortunately people who are having a shitty time, tend to… well be in shitty mood and act accordingly.
