I don’t think the main benefit is cutting off cheaters - it is about using the road more effectively. I agree with your sentiment but I like these posts for a strategic reason: Bezos intends for his statements to bolster support, but his strategy is falling flat. Support for AI is either level or declining, and anger over its harm is growing. Bezos reveals the extent to which he is out-of-touch. I think his statements actually inflame opposition to AI: his propaganda is motivating his opponents while leaving his supporters indifferent. When I upvote Bezos quotes, I am thinking to myself, ‘hey everybody, get a load of this asshole!’ I am definitely not upvoting him because I think his claims have merit or that they will convert people to support AI.

if the article were to persuade someone else to join us in opposition to the conflicts you mentioned, though, i would say it was a good article for that reason alone.

we need a coalition of people with different priorities who are opposed to the wars, simply because that is the best chance of ending them.
