Fediverse@lemmy.world•some feedback about Lemmy/PieFed from Reddit usersEnglish
6·12 days agoReddit has a bad reputation due to the quality of the platform itself, and the quality of ‘redditors’
Bluesky is a steaming pile of shit if you do not set it to ‘following’, yet again because of the quality of its users
Lemmy and Piefed both allow you to change the colour scheme
If a user is not seeing enough new content, then they should probably look around more. I still use reddit (it still serves a point for distros, gaming etc), but the vast majority of the time I go there, the screen is blank… because I do not follow many subs.
Social media is not the right place for porn

4·21 days agoIt’s definitely the standout though.
Linus snr suggested that someone should fork the kernel if they want no ai. Fingers crossed that it happens.
Agreed, I really want to see this for linux distros and desktop environments, the list is far too small, and far too niche at present.
even Linus Torvalds
He made his choice, that doesn’t make him right, regardless of who he is, or who he thinks he is.
ai as it is now, owned by the people who own it, pushed by the people who push it, is the exact opposite of the linux philosophy for me. If I wanted microslop, I would still be using it.
Shouldn’t that just be the default though?

Open Source@lemmy.ml•WebBrain: a GPL-3.0 browser extension that turns any LLM (including local ones) into a browser agent
5·1 month ago‘open source’ posts on social media these days appear to predominantly be ai crap
At some stage it is highly likely that will lead to significant government restrictions on open source because ‘unregulated ai’ cannot be trusted, and is always ‘escaping’ and ‘hacking’. The powers that be are already able to manipulate the general populace against open source, they don’t need our help.
