I considered it but:
Since that person came up with the setup, i think an editor changing the punchline isnt necessarily making a new joke, they’d just be a third contributor.
Opinions vary though, sure. As a software dev, I dream of a world where everything is version controlled and no one’s contributions are undocumented or underplayed.
Thanks to THC destroying my ability to REM, I have become Jet Li’s the One.
There’s a few actual versions of the pin pulling games now. I liked this one for Android called “How to Loot”, pretty fun little time waster.
Too easy to make an exploitable template, the author clearly is doing it for the memes!
When the poles of your political axis are “human rights” <—> “genocide and slavery” then centrists can go stuff themselves. Theres no compromise between freedom and slavery, life and death. I will not meet you on the middle fields of “just against the bad ones.”
Yep, it’s a treasure! I wish there was a slightly more tropical version sometimes, but the advice generally applies well and lots of things grow very easily here.
It’s such a funny coincidence that the layout of several elements is the same that I feel like the meme one must have been inspired by the illustration. I did want to highlight a more realistic take on this concept, and since he puts those 3 layouts right by each other in the book, I also wanted to include them. Like you say, the difference is in focusing on practical realities of the space and getting the most out of it.
From John Seymour’s excellent book “The Self Sufficient Life and How to Live It”
Layout for 1 acre.
Also, layout for urban garden
And a layout for a 5 acre homestead
Obviously we can’t pretend that VC funded services like Uber are sustainable nor are the environmental and economic costs. But this aren’t new concepts. Pizza delivery has been a thing my entire life (I’m in my 40s) and services for the elderly, disabled, and needy like Meals on Wheels have also existed for a long time.
We should be having a lot of discussions about support for services like meals on wheels, or on sustainable means of making small courier businesses viable (via bikes or scooters maybe). Instead we constantly get sidelined into this “only the Treatler Youth use Uber Eats to feed your hamburger addictions, why can’t you just cook healthfully for yourself for every meal?!” version of discourse that doesn’t help anyone and doesn’t advance the needle on any actual solutions.
WWE RAW is (was?) the branding for a televised professional wrestling event which occurred most every Monday. It traveled between venues so fans could attend a show locally. Last time it came to NOLA it was a huge deal, the city was swarming with wrestling fans almost packed more densely than football fans when the superb owl is in town.
The phrase “Monday night raw?” could also be interpreted as an offer for unprotected sex. “Hitting it raw” means no condoms or other barriers. So she was (allegedly) expecting to have rough, wild sex and instead was (allegedly) invited to attend a fake (allegedly) sporting event.
(As an aside, I don’t know why unprotected sex would be interpreted as being any better for her. It’s intimate and I have partners who prefer it, but i would say it’s minimally a factor in how good the sex is for the receiving party.)
I’m the king of Lemmy anarchists and I approve this mesage!
Really putting the “ass” in comparison there. Also, if a person say… wrote a best selling beloved children’s book series, but then heel-turned into a piece of shit, it absolutely does ruin their entire body of work for a lot of people.
Like, this happens, what is the comic even talking about?
Ive never seen these before and I’m enthralled! The music and visual style reminds me a lot of Cruelty Squad. Is there an accepted name for this “genre”? It’s almost like pre-AI slop but with a pedal-to-the-floor surrealism that elevates it tremendously.
