  • Having used the system some time ago, I’m not too worried. It only shows the name and latest address. Basically like the white pages but with a soc.sec.ID instead of the phone number.

It lacks info on a lot of people, because some people aren’t too good at reporting when they move, and some are hidden for legal reasons.

The most dangerous thing would be if the data is sold to stalkers, because it does have more addresses than the white pages.

The soc.sec.no. includes birthday and gender, so it can also be used for targeting scams.

Anyway, it’s not like this data wasn’t already available in one way or another. The breach just made it easier for whoever did it.

  • True.

One of the talking points during Brexit was how UK paid more to EU than they received. Seems logical, big country, much economy. Many people voted because of that argument. Turns out to be false.

A cost benefit analysis shows that UK received up to 6 times more from EU than the cost.

As a EU citizen, I’d be happy to have them join again, because I believe that the benefits of EU come from cooperation between nations rather than any particular group paying for the other. They can even keep their currency and stupid passport, but they can forget about the previous privileged terms with selective opt-in.

  • It is just physics. Obviously. Getting the intuition for it is pretty difficult without actually doing it. It requires practice but it’s also not just muscle memory. You can figure out a lot of the techniques by thinking about it. It is important to be able to visualise a trick before you have any chance of doing it. It’s a constant process of thinking, trying, thinking, trying, and suddenly you just feel it, and only then can you do it.

As for the physics, it’s always a battle of opposite forces. Gravity does win, but you can fall with style in the meantime. I guess most people can juggle a football a few times simply by kicking the ball and then get in the position where the ball lands. A skateboard is the same, only with less room and you being on top of it. The secret is the Ollie. Your center of gravity is not at your feet, so there’s some room to juggle the board underneath you.

  • The “just a minute”-people park everywhere, not limited to handicap spaces.

I’ve seen people put on the hazard lights in the middle of a street to get their take away food. I get that sometimes people can be in a hurry and it being almost an emergency for them, but it seems like something that becomes a bad habit.

My neighbour’s landlord throws his car anywhere effectively blocking the dead end road every single time he is there, and he’s not in a hurry. I think he even likes the interaction with people asking him to move his shit. He’s a friendly fellow who likes to talk, but he’s also a selfish asshole, who apparently enjoys having other people being dependent on him to solve the issue that he created.

I once had a job interview in one of his companies, and I could tell that his entitlement oozed through the entire organization.

He doesn’t park badly because he’s a bad driver. He’s a bad person and that makes him bad at parking.
